Our Mission

Walrus Asylum Press is an imprint of Atrophied Gangsters press and is devoted to publishing the weird of the weird.

It's a Misfit Island for lost stories that never found a home, either because they were too weird, or maybe they just didn't fit the guidelines of what they were submitted to.  Maybe they have never even been submitted at all.

Walrus Asylum is looking for something that doesn't quite fit into Bizarro Genre, or any other genre for that matter.  We do like Sci-Fi, Horror, and Lovecraftian elements...so those types of stories may have a better chance of being looked at/published.

The Doctors that run the Walrus Asylum aren't looking for extreme sex, super extreme gore, or stuff that is just purposefully distasteful.  It's not good for the inmates here.  What we mean is keep it "R" rated, and not "XXX" or "NC-17".  We aren't looking for young adult material either, however if some titles published by Walrus Asylum appeal to that market so be it.  But we aren't making the next Twilight or Hunger Games.

If your story is "XXX" or "NC-17", then it belongs right at home in the Bizarro Genre.  Atrophied Gangsters loves those stories too, so make sure to check out all the imprints and other dabblings we have dedicated to those extreme things.  We'd love the chance to read those stories too.

The inmates of the Walrus Asylum love explosions, tits, Lovecraftian entities, machine gun fights, ninja battles, samurai showdowns, alternate history, Sci-Fi, aliens, mutants and nuclear wastelands.  But we do like to keep them away from people being skull fucked and the like.  All the rape and incest, we insist, has to be kept outside the walls of our facility.  Doctor Bill Cosby runs the place, and while he's a weird guy, he doesn't want to read a story about his Grandma getting raped by Nazi Bread-Loaves.  It offends his sweaters.

General Guidelines

Other than submitting a professional manuscript, there aren't too many extra rules that haven't been outlined above.  However, as far as size goes, we are looking for short stories or novellas.  No larger novels please.


Compensation

At Walrus Asylum Press, we do want to pay you.  Right now it's planned to have all titles released as $0.99 eBooks on KINDLE, so the money generated will be low.  Still, we want to be fair and are working on the best way to compensate our contributors fairly.

Most of all, we just want to get stuff out there, weird stuff!
